CREATING THE PERFECT WOOD FINISH

August 2005

For those out there who have watched Joe on TV and want to learn the basics of wood finishing, this is the book for you. Step by step processes on two complete projects, funny text, and with a slew of great pictures, the folks that bring you Popular Woodworking Books have scored a hit with this one.

WOOD FINISHING SIMPLIFIED

June 2008

One area where woodworkers strive to gain more information is on the topic of finishing. Since finishing is one of the most important aspects to any woodworking project, it can become a frustrating process for many woodworkers regardless of skill level. Wood Finishing Simplified breaks down the various steps involved in finishing furniture, leading to better projects and less frustration. Using only the products available at local home centers, the author explains the differences in the types of stains and finishes plus step-by-step photos and clear instructions show the reader how to produce a quality furniture finish.

Just look at these reviews:

"Did I read the book? Yes, I read the book. Did I like it? Yes, I liked it immensely. Would I attempt anything Joe does? I’d have to say that with his help I feel I certainly could. Of course I would."
Donald Rumsfeld

"I wish I’d had this one book when I was away. Great read!"
Martha Stewart

"I really don’t think fixing your furniture can be done successfully with solvents and the like. But I do think vitamins can help a great deal in preventing alligatored finishes."
Tom Cruise

"I just looked at the pictures."
George Bush

Residing in Canada half of the time as I do, has led to a series of charcoals of the strikingly beautiful Canadian landscape. This is a matter of being immersed in the scenery each and every day that allows for their creation.

These charcoals and paintings are as spontaneous as anything I have ever conceived and I must say, I am quiet happy with them---some, more so that others, but, as with all art, it is the doing I favor more than as they later hang.

Regards,Joe L’Erario
